HP Summer Scholar

After my internship got canceled due to COVID-19, I decided to do a virtual summer development program through HP called, HP summer scholars programs and it was a program designed for people like me who lost their internship or just wanted to gain real-life knowledge through this time of uncertainty. This program was a six-week development experience focused on all aspects of HP’s business including:
Learning how a global business operates and how business decisions are made, exploring technology in core business areas, including gaming, 3D, software, data analytics, print, supply chain and sustainability, and sales and marketing. We did this by hearing about real business challenges from HP experts by understanding how global megatrends influence HP’s business and the global economy, identifying the behaviors and mindsets required to take risks and innovate for the future, discovering career possibilities at HP through stories from employees who are recent graduates and networking with other students and business leaders.

SEC Directed Internship

Along with being an HP summer scholar, I was part of the SEC Directed Internship. Just like summer scholars, this program was designed for students that got their summer internships canceled and give us an opportunity to still get many aspects of what we would have learned in a formal internship. This included over 50 hours of training sessions with professors of practice and people in industry across different topics with an emphasis on relevant work experience, teamwork and interpersonal skills, oral and written communications, and creativity and problem-solving.

Another major part of this internship was a group project that takes all the skills we learned from the training sessions (product development), and apply it to a real project. I was the team leader for my team of 3 other students. Check out the whole project in the projects tab!

Texas A&M RecSports Aquatics

Throughout my time at Texas A&M, I have worked in Aquatic Events. I started by being an Aquatic Events Staff, where I programmed the score board for aquatic events and kept score, solved problems and changed the layout of the pool after events, and communicated with coaches and athletes to ensure the program ran smoothly.

After effectively performing my job as an assistant, I got promoted as an Aquatic Events Lead! As a lead, I supervised the aquatic events staff in the various aquatic areas such as swimming and diving meets, water polo, and synchronized swimming, supervised the general maintenance and administrative duties for the pools and spas, assisted with the hiring supervision and scheduling of the 20 event assistants, and even figured out a way to cut down set up time by 30% by making the setup process more efficient.
